The Myrtles Print E-mail

chook-tractor.jpgIn a bid to live a healthier lifestyle in the country we have purchased a McCallum made Chickenmyrtles.jpg Tractor - a mobile chicken hutch - and four soft feather hens - all called Myrtle because we cannot tell them apart. They are a happy little bunch clucking and diggin and hopefully soon the Comanche Lodge egg factory will be in production.

We would like to thank all of those who have taken the time to write, phone, email, text or otherwise send your thoughts and kind words on the loss of our beautiful white horse Silver Wind Van NIna. It has helped tremendously through these dark and sad days. Thankyou, Bruce, Janice & Michael.

Kite Flying Print E-mail
Sunday, 17 August 2008
buciekite0808.jpgIt is an O'Connor tradition to vist the Ekka as many times as we can each year. We love the sights and sounds, the strawberry ice creams and the cheerios. It is a Brucie tradition that we always buykite--eaglew.jpg a bag with a kite. Usually they don't fly but this year we had to buy from a kite stand and not only did they fly they flew high. Michael has an eagle kite and Bruce a multi coloured more traditional shape. The mares and foals thought they were terrific fun and an eagle dropped in to check out the interloper in his territory.

Flighty Arabs Print E-mail

Energex replaced all the power poles on our street and installed a new one just outside the mare and foal paddock. One of the power.jpgworkers had to come into the paddock to help control the pole as it was lifted into the hole.power2.jpg

The mares and foals had to go over and supervise that it was all done correctly - despite the hay we put out to keep them out of the way!

jay051.jpgBruce and his pony The Lady Jay (Ramzi*/Lady Ian) shoed at the 2008 Challenge Show to take out the Champion Harness Horse. Gail Webster kindly loaned Bruce her viceroy and tho the pair worked in it for the first time the morning of the classes performed very well to take out the award. They certainly looked smart.

Stormy - Alii (imp)/Ridgrest Sa-arleena

 In Memory
By Alii (imp USA/dec) from Ridgecrest Sa'Arleena

Big, bold colt born 29th October 2007. We had purchased his dam Sa'Arleena specifically to breed to Silver Wind Van Nina to do the El Shaklan/Silver Fire breeding backwards - that is to use a Crabbet Stallion of Silver lines over El Shaklan line mares to prove our belief that Crabbet stallions still have a very real role in the breeding of our modern show Arabians and should be incorporated into modern breeding programs to reinforce the qualities sought from Crabbet foundation mares.
